About the Author: Katie Flannigan
Katie Flannigan is an emerging author/illustrator. A lover of picture books, Katie has long harboured a dream to create them. Drawing on her health professional background, her stories have either a human, social conscience element to them or are a complete romp. Her illustrations have been described as quirky and humorous and she uses mixed media, handmade figurines and found objects to create her work. Katie has completed a Faber Academy course with Allen and Unwin and was awarded a Maurice Saxby Mentorship in 2016. Katie has had a short story published in an anthology and has two picture books due out in 2021.

About the Illustrator: Katrina Fisher

Katrina is a freelance illustrator based on the Bellarine Peninsula, south-west of Melbourne. She studied Fine Art at the Gordon Institute of TAFE in Geelong and Federation University in Ballarat in the mid 1990’s. In 2016 she completed a post graduate degree in Visual Communication Design at Deakin University.

Katrina works from her home studio, illustrating for a range of clients and undertaking her own personal projects. She works in traditional mediums, creating her illustrations using coloured pencil, graphite, watercolour, ink and gouache. She enjoys creating images of beauty and finds it wonderfully satisfying when her work connects with people and brings joy to the viewer.

Katrina exhibits her work around the region, conducts community art classes for children and is following her dreams of illustrating picture books for children.  In 2018, Katrina won first place at the CYA Conference writing and illustrating competition in the illustrated picture book category (aspiring).
