Our dreams shine brightest when we truly believe. At times, when others do not see our dreams as important or ‘real’, we can lose sight of them, and faith in ourselves. Through symbolism, imagery and emotive language, Elsie’s Dreams sends a gentle message that self-belief and acceptance is more important than the accolades and opinions of others. It also conveys the strength of treasured friendship.

About the Illustrator: Nadia Waters

My name is Nadia Waters and my interest and appreciation for the beauty of nature flourished at a young age and continues to grow and blossom. My studies led me to the University of Newcastle where I completed an undergraduate degree 2009, Honours 2010 and Masters 2013 all in Natural History Illustration. Mother Nature is my main source of inspiration. The theme of my illustration work explores the aesthetics and design of the natural world mainly with traditional illustration techniques including graphite, watercolour and coloured pencil. My methodology includes collecting natural curiosities from bushland and coastal environments to use as reference material in developing illustrations. I combine art and science. I believe the beauty of nature expressed in visual art and literature evokes a sense of wonder and awe, provides infinite stimulus for creativity and enriches life. Nature’s seasonal change and spirit will forever surprise, intrigue and inspire my imagination. With every illustration I create I want to share an essence of magic and beauty. I have exhibited my illustration work in regional and commercial galleries.
