About the Author : Sophie Masson

Born in Indonesia to French parents and brought up in Australia and France, Sophie Masson AM is the award-winning author of over 60 books, for children, young adults and adults, published in Australia and internationally. Many of her books are novels, including War and Resistance(Scholastic Australia 2019) Jack of Spades  (Eagle Books 2017) The Hunt for Ned Kelly (Scholastic Australia) winner of the Patricia Wrightson Award in the 2011 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards; The Crystal Heart (Random House Australia), a 2015 CBCA Notable Book; and Thomas Trew and the Island of Ghosts (Hodder UK), shortlisted for the 2009 Aurealis Awards. Recently, Sophie has begun writing picture books, and several of these are now out, with the most recent being Join the Armidale Parade, illustrated by Kathy Creamer (Little Pink Dog Books, 2019), There’s a Tiger out There, illustrated by Ruth Waters (Little Hare, 2019), On My Way, illustrated by Simon Howe(Scholastic Australia 2019)  and See Monkey, illustrated by Kathy Creamer, (Little Pink Dog Books 2018). About the Illustrator: Katrina Fisher

Katrina is a freelance illustrator based on the Bellarine Peninsula, south-west of Melbourne. She studied Fine Art at the Gordon Institute of TAFE in Geelong and Federation University in Ballarat in the mid 1990’s. In 2016 she completed a post graduate degree in Visual Communication Design at Deakin University.

Katrina works from her home studio, illustrating for a range of clients and undertaking her own personal projects. She works in traditional mediums, creating her illustrations using coloured pencil, graphite, watercolour, ink and gouache. She enjoys creating images of beauty and finds it wonderfully satisfying when her work connects with people and brings joy to the viewer.

Katrina exhibits her work around the region, conducts community art classes for children and is following her dreams of illustrating picture books for children.  In 2018, Katrina won first place at the CYA Conference writing and illustrating competition in the illustrated picture book category (aspiring).
