About the Author: Michelle Wanasundera

Michelle is a children’s author who is passionate about nature, family, and of course, storytelling. Living in the Blue Mountains inspires her writing, as does being a mum to her daughter Amali. Both of these were the main inspiration for her first published title, Bubbles and Puddles. Michelle is a passionate member of the kidlit community, a committee member of Creative Kids Tales, and writes reviews for Writing NSW.

When she’s not dreaming up stories, she’s either saving bugs from her pond, devouring books and her beloved cat Bon Bon, or managing her family web development business, Netmek.

About the Illustrator: Nichole Wade

I’ve loved children’s books since I was able to hold them. The agony of deciding which books to order from the school book fair! Reading favorites such as Frog and Toad and Mouse Soup by the glow of my Wonder Woman night light. Now I sneak my book orders into the house and cram them on to ever tightening shelves–I don’t know why–I just don’t want to admit I have a problem! I’ve scribbled out bits and pieces of stories my whole life and yet it wasn’t until a few years ago that I decided to take that inner voice and passion seriously. So I began learning watercolor and with that comes drawing and before I knew it I just didn’t put the pencil down.
I love nature and animals, so much so, that I make sure I live and breathe it! Our menagerie of cats and chickens, the dog who is as big as the mini pony and donkey, are always there to give me something to love on and be inspired by. I plant flowers and nurture the trees and enjoy the neighbour’s bees that come over to visit. Fresh air and sunshine are the perfect remedy to long hours at the studio desk.
I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to create a couple of murals, as well as use my art to raise money for children in need. I have several projects currently in motion, but I am pleased to announce that my debut picture book will be with Little Pink Dog Books! I couldn’t be more thrilled at this opportunity and to work with such lovely people. It is truly a dream come true after all these years in the making.
